Overview
Description
Prerequisite(s): FRSC 2261 and FRSC 3140, with a minimum grade of C. This course includes instruction in the following areas: structure and function of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), map projections and coordinate systems, geographic database editing, acquisition and interpretation of aerial photographs, incorporation of Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinate data into a GIS, and production of maps. Course emphasis is on GIS in a wildlife management context. Hands-on experience is provided through laboratory exercises which employ GIS software.
