Geographic Information Systems

Prerequisite(s): FRSC 2250 with a minimum grade of C. Corequisite(s): FRSC 3255. This course includes instruction in the following areas: structure and function of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), map projections and coordinate systems, geographic database editing, acquisition and interpretation of aerial photographs, incorporation of Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinate data into a GIS, and production of maps. Course emphasis is on GIS in a land management context. Hands-on experience is provided through laboratory exercises employing GIS software.
